Yelp Elite

Posted by Greg T. on April 26th, 2007 in CA/Home, Shot on Film

I went to a Yelp Elite event. Free wine and snacks. Cool bookstore. I think I’m about 4 years too young for that crowd. Yelp has nice people…as opposed to myspace, but I think I’m social networking outside of my age group.

A cat named Muffin. Sensia 400.

Re: Gen Y’s most trusted brands

Posted by Greg T. on April 24th, 2007 in New York, Shot on Film

A recent study of our generation’s (age 21-27) most trusted brands. Yes and no for me.

Apple - yes, but lukes’s MacBook? I’ve had zero trouble with my HP, and zero trouble with my home brews.
Trader Joe’s – mmm. 2 buck chuck isn’t 2 bucks in nyc, it’s $3.99.
Jet Blue – I’ve never found Jetblue to be the cheapest…
In-N-Out Burger – Would rather have Habit.
Ben & Jerry’s – Yes, but also Hagen Daz.
Whole Foods – Too expensive, bourgey, how about Berkeley Bowl? (However, I’ve learned that in NYC, whole foods is an oasis of fresh produce…
Adidas – Sure, whatever.
American Apparel – Never shop there. I like the monotony of Express
Target - Yep
H & M clothing stores – It was fun 3 years ago when it was new and trendy, but you get what you pay for, cheap clothing that doesn’t fit well.
Levi’s – Sevens? I bought some Levi’s in China, I think they’re fake.
Volkswagen - Seriously? Volks has some of the worst reliability ratings…just goes to show how people can be swayed by a good marketing campaign.
Converse - I trust, but don’t buy.
Vitamin Water – Over priced. I’d rather have a centrum and tap water through the brita.
Red Stripe Jamaican beer – If the world knew about Firestone double barrell ale

I guess I’m not normal.

I’ll leave this photo as a testament to how much I despise Best Photo, the photo store down the street. Got my film back balled up in a film cansister, no protective sleeve, permenantly curled. The film had tons of dust and scratches running down the entire length.

Joost

Posted by Greg T. on April 20th, 2007 in Nerd Stuff

I finally got a joost.com beta invite. It’s the hot thing now (aside from getting a Tesla). It’s iptv/tv on demand/youtube on steroids without retards. After playing with everything in their beta and watching a couple episodes of Man Bites Dog, I’ve concluded that it’s 4/5 good. Not enough content yet, not enough bandwidth for acceptable compression levels, but they’ve definitely got something. Plus, I was able to get in on the beta, so I’ve gotta say thank you by promoting a little.
