Itching.

How ironic. The 20d comes and no assignments from the nexus. Well this weekend should be good, Berkeley’s Cal Hawaii Club is putting a Luau. It’s huge and the dancing is better than anything you’ll see at a tourist Luau. I’m event photog for it, so maybe the camera will get some use then. Off to a video shoot….

Halo 2. I’ve never seen a double halo around a noontime sun with a rainbow as the outer halo. Maybe I’m just a country bumpkin, but was is cool.

Tired

Left last night for the bay area, got in at 2am. Then left for sb at 1230pm. Short trip to the bay. I’m tired. And sick.

Opening of the Ty Warner Sea Center. Earth Day in the Sunken Gardens at the courthouse. Nina’s graduation portrait. So much to learn. Nikkei BBall tomorrow.

Come in and explore. Mayor of Santa Barbara Marty Blum, Congresswoman Lois Capps, and actor Julia Louis-Dryfuss (Eliane on Seinfeld) cut a length of seaweed to commemorate the opening of the newly remodeled Ty Warner Sea Center on Stearn’s Wharf.

I like movable type.

So all that shooting paid off. Had 7 shots in Friday’s Nexus including one full page shot of the mission. Pretty happy with it, but wish that Mike and I had more time to hang out at the locations.

Today, Eddie invited me to a photo shoot that he was doing at sbcc with a woman from Friendship Manor, a retirement home in IV. It was an awesome learning experience playing w/ strobes and a light meter and learning how to work with your model in a studio environment. But, maybe that’s why I don’t like studio photography, because you have to ask people to be fake, instead of just catching them in the act of life.

Cita. Eddie has Cita smell a rose during his photo shoot today at city college. Cita was a such a kind hearted woman, to agree to go to city college, get her hair and makeup done, then pose for 2 hours. She made me kiss her on the cheek as we all parted ways, it was both funny and heart warming.

I’m a photoslut

Spent most of today working in various forms. First at the shop, getting the compressor fixed, then shooting. Oh yeah, good job on the Spam Musubi sale Nikkei. I had 3. Spent the afternoon dt shooting then at the Student’s party party (they won alot) then back and the nexus.

Tons of touristy fun. A parking lot full of 2, 4, and 6 person pedal powered vechicles await tomorrow’s tourists who will take them for a spin up and down the SB beachfront.

4/20

Posted by Greg T. on April 21st, 2005 in Uncategorized

“I feel like not living anymore.” – Mike Tu after eating too much at the Chumash Seafood buffet. Today was 4/20 and to celebrate I ate like I had smoked out…even though I didn’t at all…so that would not make me a stoner but rather a skinny ass Japanese guy who can eat 3 times his weight at buffets.

Some things are just impossible to photograph

Filled in at the shop today because Sam is out due to a broken leg. It sounds really bad from the 5 different stories that I’ve heard.

While shooting the business job fair I came across some unusually unfriendly girls in Alpha Kappa Psi, the coed fraterority that was sponsoring the fair. After essentially calling me and what I was doing “weird” I realized that photojournalists often walk a fine line between documentative and inappropriately intrusive. Yeah, I guess a lot of photographers are loners (as Lauren from the nexus put it) but don’t pass judgements on what I do.
